Why is a Lifebox pulse oximeter so important?

This is what having a Lifebox pulse oximeter means to many many anaesthetist world wide.

Me: 'Why do you like the Lifebox pulseoximeter so much?'

Bernard Bwepe (clinical officer at Livingstone hospital):

"Before I had Lifebox I had the knowledge but not the tools. For example, imagine a man in the forrest wanting to cut trees with no axe. He has the knowledge to cut the tree but he has no tools. He is impotent. Give him an axe and he can now cut the tree and provide for his family. He has both the knowledge and the tools".
